A little more progress.

Things are tacked into place or just kind of sitting there.

The front axle and wheels of the jack have been removed. The bar (new longer axle) is in place holding the front of the jack to a couple of plates so the jack can be swiveled up and down on the axle. This will allow the lift part of the jack to move in the direction of the rotating dolly when the rear of the jack is raised.

The number 1 is placed on the angle that is welded to the bottom of the frame that butts up to the column of the mill. The the mill table is raised and moved to the rear so it is in full contact with the angle iron. This prevents any twisting or rotation of the mill.

2 is one of the safety bars. It will be mounted on the red cross member where the front of the jack is mounted. It will be mounted so that it can swivel at the its base. A large pin is inserted in the holes on the tubing to support the ends of the dolly cross member. The pins are removed and replaced in lower or higher holes as the mill is moved up or down. The safety bars are there primarily as safety devices, but will also be used to support the mill when the jack needs to be repositioned.

The dolly is almost in a full down position. The base of the dolly is in front of the base of the mill.

1 (top left corner) shows one of the stands used to secure the ends of the dolly base.

2 will rest on 3 when the dolly is fully lowered.

The jack swivel plate can be seen at the bottom left corner of the picture.

1 is the round 1" thick pin on the end of the dolly base. A 3/4" dowel pin is placed in the holes, 2, directly above the dolly pin. The dowel pin prevents the dolly from raising up.

2 These holes are also used to raise the base of the dolly when the mill is placed on a pallet or removed from a pallet.

When the mill is in the full down position, the base of the mill (dolly base) will be raised off the floor. At that point the stands are removed and repositioned on the roller frame so they can support the dolly base in its raised position. Two pins are again used - one on top of the dolly pin and the other below the dolly pin.

The base of the mill - actually the base of the dolly - will then be pulled downward with retaining straps so the mill and dolly base will be firmly secured to the roller part of the mill mover.

1 will rest on 4 when fully down. 3 is one of the safety bars. It will mount on a swivel almost in the same location as the oil stain on the frame at number 4. Same thing on the other side. 2 is the jack swivel axle and 5 is the angle iron that will sit on top of the mill table. This angle will be lined with wood. A swivel can be seen on top of the jack. An extension bar will fit that swivel and extend to the channel iron immediately in front of that swivel. Need the extra distance to fully lift.

The support frame can be adjusted to fit the mill. That's the purpose of the holes in the ends of the frame that are sticking out just below 2. Those ends may be cut off later because any adjustment between mills will be very slight.
