2/3/06 - Modified computer
keyboard position |
|
Original and modification Originally the keyboard was attached to the bottom of the control. It was too high. I am a "sit down" machinist. It also caused a problem from time to time when the cage hit the keyboard as the table was moved. Biggest problem was chips. The mill still throws chips all over the place even with the cage. A hinged cover was added to the keyboard to stop this problem. IT WORKS. |

The cover folds back approximately 270 degrees for
easy access to the keyboard. |
The inside of the lid is a perfect place for often
used data. In this case it is a blown up copy of a Starrett Tap
and Drill size card - front and back. |
Centroid puts the keyboard in a tray that attaches to the bottom of the controller using 4 small screws. I took tray and keyboard and mounted them on the swing out keyboard table. The table swivels at the base of the mill and at the tray so it can easily be rotated into any position. It can also be raised and lowered about 4 inches. |
