1/2/05 - Few Minor Modifications

The back of the table enclosure has been modified, a tool holder added and a Trico MD-1200
Micro Drop coolant system added.

The adjustable plate on the back of the table enclosure was removed. It worked, but was
a pain to keep removing and moving up and down to clear the ram. A large piece of
rubber replaces it. Tool holder on the right top of the table enclosure was built and added.
I got tired of running (Running?!?! Now that's a laugh) to the tool cabinet every time I needed a different cutter. A piece of scrap 2"x3" square aluminum tubing did the trick. Dirt simple, cheap, and works like a champ. It will sit on the mill table, on or in the tool cabinet for easy replacement of needed tooling or hang on the top of the table enclosure. The solid wall facing the mill table also protects the ends of the tool holders from chips and dirt. Seven holes for tools is enough to hold tools that are used on multiple jobs (drill chuck, etc.) as well as tooling specific to the job being done. Besides being cheaper than buying a tool cart, it is more handy.

The Trico MD-1200 is a fantastic coolant system. The unit is held on the side of the mill knee with two large powerful magnets. Air operated from shop air. It dispenses air at up to shop air pressure through one tube and single drops of biodegradable vegetable oil at 7 psi through another tube. With two controllable outlets the double nozzle system can be well controlled on the table. The air keeps the cutter clear of chips, and drops of oil controllable from 2 to 18 drops a minute keep the cutter cool without the clean up involved with mist or flood. Air flow and oil flow are controllable in each nozzle. The unit can be pulled from the mill and set up on other machines in seconds.
